A new year has rolled around again and now you’re thinking about how this year is going to be different. People are asking you what resolutions you have and it’s a great time to set some goals.
Have you ever found in the past that you’ve put so much pressure on yourself in the New Year!!! You tell yourself that you want to lose ‘x’kgs and deep down you want it gone immediately. You may want to look a certain way or compare yourself to other girls, or this year you’re going to have those six pack abs and build your booty.
Changing your New Years expectations
There’s nothing wrong with having those goals, however what some people find challenging is the enormous pressure they put on themselves. They go all out training 6x a week, radically changing everything and find by February they’ve given up because it’s all too hard or they’re not seeing their results quick enough.
This year why don’t you let go of the New Year’s resolution mindset and try shifting your focus to:

How do you want to SEE yourself this time next year?
‘How do you want to FEEL’?
It’s more than just physical, how do you want to FEEL within yourself??? Do you want to feel happy, fulfilled, healthy, fit, confident, strong, empowered, beautiful, sexy, nourished, full of energy and to love yourself and feel amazing in your skin!!!
All of that goes deeper than what you see in the mirror. Your goals or vision you have for yourself must be more than just physical!!! I can’t stress that enough.
It’s time you look after you
Everyone is busy these days. We have so many different roles we’re fulfilling daily. Whether it be the mother, the wife, the career woman, the business owner, the friend, the volunteer. We are constantly giving so much of ourselves which is a wonderful thing, but remember it’s ok to give to YOU too. It’s like they say on a flight ‘you can’t help others until you put your oxygen mask on first’.
It is not selfish to take time out for yourself. In fact you will find it has the opposite effect. When you look after yourself you feel great. You feel energised, healthy, fit, strong but also emotionally happier. This has a ripple effect to everyone around you because life is a reflection of you. When you feel good in yourself it has a positive effect on your relationships with your partner and kids which leads to a happier home.
You’re also leading a positive example to your family and demonstrating to your kids the importance of looking after your health and body. It all starts with you.
You might find your journey and results inspire those you care about to do the same.
Don’t ever let yourself feel guilty for putting yourself first and making your health a priority. What lights you up, what makes you feel good inside, what brings you joy in the process? The more we can feel good in what we do the more that impacts our whole life. Ladies we need to spend time doing the things that make us happy!!!
It doesn’t matter what sort of physical activity you do, whether it be gym, walking, yoga, group fitness, swimming, cycling, running….as long as it’s something you enjoy.
Associate with people who lift you and make you feel good. It helps to become part of a group of women working towards similar goals who lift and empower you. This helps keep you accountable and on track and can be loads of fun.
Moving forward
It’s so important to have a holistic approach to your health and fitness and incorporate working on your body, mind and soul.
Your results will come from a gradual approach and changing daily habits along the way and working on your mindset. An approach that is manageable and sustainable for your long term health, not a quick fix.
Remember if nothing changes then nothing changes!!! If you want a different result in 2018 then you need to do something different. If you want to feel happier or better within yourself then you need to make change and take action.
But it all starts with your vision, your reasons why and the picture in your mind you have of yourself for long term optimal health.
This is the year for you and your health. This is the year to make YOU a priority.
Bring on 2018, it’s going to be an incredible year.
