Holidays

Holidays & Travel!!!

You’re probably wondering why I’ve got a blog on here about travel and what’s that got to do with fitness. Well besides travel being one of my all time favourite things to do I’ll let you know why I think it’s important. It doesn’t have to necessarily be an expensive holiday overseas, I’m simply talking about my philosophy behind having a break.

It’s good for your soul. Being away from the pressures of routine or work allows you to open yourself up to really enjoying new experiences. The moment I step foot on a plane my whole body relaxes and I feel I just switch off. I look over at Tom and the kids and have a feeling of gratitude that we’re about to spend some great quality family time together with no time restrictions or interruptions, so it’s also incredible for your relationships. As much as I adore my kids I love getting away with just us as a couple too, gives you an opportunity to invest time into your relationship.

Everybody needs a reward to look forward to after working so hard, otherwise what’s the point of it all! We all work towards goals in every aspects of our lives. Whether it’s working hard at your job or running a household or training hard, you need something to look forward to, it makes all your hard work feel worthwhile.

I also believe fitness plays a big role because when you’re healthy and active you have another level of energy which allows you to get the most out of your holidays. I allow myself to have a guilt free time to indulge and enjoy the foods and drinks while I’m there. I know at the end of my break I’ll feel that and my body is looking forward to eating well and exercising again.

A break is good for your body too, even in exercise. It allows you time to recover and rejuvenate both physically and mentally. When you’ve been training hard and you allow yourself some time off, by the end of your holiday you are hanging to get back into your training and back in the zone. You then return to training with a fresh new headspace and a renewed energy in your body and you can take your fitness to the next level. Plus don’t forget to set a new goal while you’re on that well deserved holiday.

I believe life is about creating memories and experiences and you need a healthy body to allow you to get the most out of life and time with people you love.
