Eat for nourishment

I want you to consider your relationship to food. Is it entertainment, emotional, boring, a chore, hard work, a certain number of calories, used for weight loss???

Do you view your food the same way your body does? Your body sees food simply as macro nutrients which are proteins, carbs & fats that it can take from your food and use for cellular repair, energy & to function. Did you know that your body ‘sees’ carbs as sugars and if you don’t burn them they will be stored as fat.

Weight loss is a by-product of eating for fuel, nourishment & your health.

These days our busy lifestyle and love of convenience has led the way to processed, pre-packaged, precooked, preservative-filled meals and ever growing portions. We eat too much and what we eat isn’t always good for us.

If you feel like you’re tired, overweight, lack energy, have dull skin or simply feel like your body doesn’t function optimally, maybe it’s time to consider the food you’re putting in your mouth and what it’s made of. You wouldn’t put the wrong fuel in our car, so why do we put it in our bodies? Your body is the only vehicle you have to get you through life. Maybe it’s time to change your relationship with food and view it as a life force, energy giving, healing and nourishing.

I love, love, love food!!! Ask my mum, often when we’re out she says ‘do you ever stop thinking about your stomach lol. The answer is no!!! I make it a priority. I prioritise eating well, cooking, planning and prepping meals.

I would rather prep food than watch tv…..
That’s simply because I know I feel great and have loads of energy when I fuel my body well….
That’s because I want to have a healthy fit body to get me through life & energy to keep up with my family & that is my #1 priority and what I value most….
So that’s what inspires me to have a great relationship with food & make it a priority in my life!!!

Nutrition is vital to any fitness program. If you can get that right then you’re well on your way to achieving sustainable results. What can you change to make nourishing your body a priority in your life and why? I often find when you have a big enough reason or desire, then eating for nourishment instead of filling a void becomes a priority. You will put time aside to prep meals, cook instead of takeaway, buy good quality fresh ingredients and read labels. We make time for the things we value.

When your ‘why’ becomes clear then the ‘how’ becomes easy!!!
